Julia Annas is Regents Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona. She was previously a Fellow and Tutor at St Hugh's College, Oxford.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a foreign member of the Finnish Academy and the Norwegian Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is also a Member of the Philosophical Society of America and past President of the Pacific Division of the American Philosophical Association.
She was the founder editor of Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy. She has written several books and many articles on ancient philosophy, particularly on ancient ethics, and also on contemporary virtue ethics.
